Aromatherapy at Utopia is a thoughtful, therapeutic approach to using essential oils to support the body, mind, and nervous system. Rather than simply choosing oils because they smell good, aromatherapy considers their individual properties and how they may complement your physical and emotional well-being.
Essential oils can be incorporated into everyday self-care to support relaxation, sleep, focus, emotional balance, and other common concerns. They offer a simple, sensory way to bring intentional care into your daily life, both at home and as part of your wellness routine.
At Utopia, aromatherapy is approached with curiosity, care, and respect for the individual. Your experience is always personal, because the oils that resonate with one person may not be the right choice for another.

These FAQs cover Aromatherapy at Utopia and answer common questions about the consultation process, custom formulations, products, safety, and what to expect from the service.
Because aromatherapy is highly individualized, this section also provides helpful information about how custom products are created and how to get the most from your experience.
Who are Aromatherapy Consultations for?
Aromatherapy consultations are for anyone with a specific concern or goal they’d like to explore with aromatherapy. You may be looking for complementary support with mental fatigue, difficulty concentrating, emotional overwhelm, nausea, menstrual discomfort, respiratory congestion, stress or anxiety, or other common concerns.
What happens during the consultation?
Before your appointment, you’ll complete an aromatherapy intake form covering your health history, goals, and preferences. During our 30-minute in-person consultation, we’ll review your form, clarify what you’re hoping to address, and discuss your scent preferences. I’ll then formulate your product after the consultation.
How do you choose the essential oils for my formulation?
I consider your goals, relevant health information, the therapeutic properties of individual essential oils, dilution rates, what product format might be most beneficial, and your scent preferences. My goal is to create a formulation that is appropriate for your needs while also being something you’ll enjoy using.
Can I choose the essential oils, scent, or product type?
You can share specific essential oils, scents, or product formats you’re interested in on your intake form or during your consultation. Your preferences are an important part of the process, but they do not guarantee that a particular oil or product type will be used. The final formulation and product format are determined based on your goals, relevant health information, safety considerations, and my aromatherapy knowledge.
What type of product will I receive?
Your custom formulation may be prepared as a personal inhaler, lotion or cream, bath salts, diffuser blend, or aromatherapy spray. The product format will be selected based on your goals, the formulation, and how it is intended to be used.
How much product will I receive?
Product size will vary depending on the type of product formulated and how it is intended to be used. Each product is made in an appropriate size for its formulation and recommended use.
When will my product be ready?
Your custom product will typically be ready within 3–5 business days after your consultation. I’ll let you know when it’s ready and provide instructions for scheduling your 15-minute pickup appointment.
What happens at the product pick-up appointment?
You’ll receive your finished product along with take-home instructions for how to use and care for it. I’ll also walk you through your product and provide relevant aromatherapy education and safety information specific to your formulation. If questions come up after you begin using your product, you can bring them up during your follow-up email.
What if I don't like the scent of my product?
Your service includes one minor reformulation if you aren’t happy with the scent of your finished product. The request must be made within 7 days of pickup, and the original product must be returned. A minor reformulation allows for adjustments to the original formulation. It does not include creating an entirely new formulation, selecting a substantially different blend of essential oils, or changing to a different product type.
Are essential oils safe for everyone?
Essential oils are highly concentrated and are not appropriate for every person, situation, or method of use. Your intake form and consultation allow me to identify relevant health considerations, allergies, medications, sensitivities, and other factors that may affect which oils or product formats are appropriate for you. You’ll also receive safety and usage instructions specific to your product. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, take medications, or have concerns about whether aromatherapy is appropriate for you, consult with your healthcare provider as needed.
Can aromatherapy replace medical treatment or medication?
No. Aromatherapy is a complementary approach and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions or replace medical treatment or prescribed medication. If you have an ongoing health concern, work with your healthcare provider for diagnosis and medical care while using aromatherapy as a complementary practice.
Can I get more of my custom blend when I run out?
If you'd like to repurchase your exact same product, please contact me first. I'll confirm current pricing and availability based on the ingredients, supplies, and product format requested.
